Why Doncaster?
Doncaster is a great city for a study vacation. Here are just a few of the reasons why
-
Doncaster was founded by the Romans. There are so many historical buildings from different eras nearby. For example, you can visit Conisbrough Castle, St George’s Minster, Brodsworth Hall, and the Mansion House – there are only three in England. There is even a museum and art gallery 50 metres from the school.
-
Doncaster is a transport hub for the North of England hence why the National Railway College is located here. It makes a great base to see much of the country and is close to York, Sheffield and Leeds, with easy direct links to popular places such as Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham, London and Edinburgh.
-
Doncaster is a dynamic and rapidly growing modern city with shopping centres like Lakeside and Frenchgate. It also has a wide range of attractions like Doncaster Dome, a new modern theatre 100 metres from the school, and the best paintballing place in Europe. An indoor ski centre is only 20 minutes away.
-
South Yorkshire is a beautiful part of the world with no fewer than 3 National Parks on our doorstep, as well as a whole coastline to explore only a short drive away.
-
Doncaster has a number of sports teams and facilities in the city and nearby. Depending on the time of year, students can see top class Football, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Boxing, Cycling, Athletics, Ice Hockey, Horse Racing and much more.
